If I purchase a renewal for Norton Internet Security online, will they still ask for a subscription key? ?

I installed everything but the Anti-Virus component of that suite since I had a free trial version of Norton Internet Security 2006. Now that that has expired, I was going to install the Anti-Virus software from the Verizon Yahoo! software. I just wanted to know before doing it, though, whether it is good or not. What are the best FREE security software packages for a new laptop?

I’m getting my new laptop delivered tomorrow and want to protect it straight from the box by installing the necessary security software. I’m only looking for FREE software programs to do this. Having a quick look i have found that i need: firewall & anti-virus software packages. I have googled this and have found Comodo (Firewall) and AVG (anti-virus) as highly recommended on various websites. is there anything else i need to protect my new laptop from any security breaches? do i also need to install Online Armor on top of AVG and Comodo or does this do the same as Comodo.
