pc speed performance down 80% since downloading free security software?

eric asked: since downloading windowsonecare/stopzilla/avg/spywaredoctor/ free versions, my pc speed has gone down drastically, online and offline! signing in to yahoo—from 05seconds to 3minutes. opening file offline, from 02 seconds to 45 seconds. what did i do wrong? thanks again!
